This little watercolor is done in a loose, improvisatory way. First, I splash watercolor onto the paper and then blow it into exciting bursts of color and shape. The rest of the image is built around the free, splashed beginnings. To me, the result is joyful energy, embodied.

About Amanda Amend
Amanda Amend captures the mystery behind the everyday in luminous watercolor. Often described as atmospheric and ethereal, the subtle qualities of her work are balanced by a powerful, disciplined use of color, values, and compositional choices that reflect unique perspectives.
