Product Details

Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Artist's Description

The Salt River wild horses are the historic and majestic creatures roaming the lower Salt River in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. They are the pride of the community, a favorite subject of photographers, and the icon of the wild, free spirit of Arizona and the American West. Thanks to the work of the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group, these horses are now legally protected in Arizona, but the Group's work is on-going. They are an all-volunteer organization (meaning that even their president and directors are volunteering their time) which monitors the health of the herd, practices humane birth control to keep the population at the State's desired levels, helps sick or injured animals, and provides feed during times of drought. Amanda Amend captures the mystery behind the everyday in luminous watercolor. Often described as atmospheric and ethereal, the subtle qualities of her work are balanced by a powerful, disciplined use of color, values, and compositional choices that reflect unique perspectives. The artist recently discovered her passion for watercolor, and she is largely self-taught. Her educational background is in music and linguistics rather than in studio arts, however those disciplines have given her the analytical and practice-oriented frameworks from which to master watercolor's difficult techniques.
